Traffic Services
The Charleston Police Department's Traffic Services Division provides many unique and critical services to the Charleston area. This division of the police department operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

The goal of this unit is the public safety of Charleston motorists and the smooth flow of traffic. Traffic Officers patrol the entire city and are often the first units on the scene of various non-traffic related calls for service. Traffic Officers receive extensive training so that they may better perform their duties.

Services include but are not limited to:
- Traffic Accident Investigation
- A fully equipped fatality team
- Traffic enforcement
- Parking enforcement
- Traffic coordination at parades and special events
- A Safety Service Unit
- Hit and Run Accident investigation
- DUI Enforcement


Traffic Services -965-4084 ---For matters regarding traffic info, to report traffic problems (speeders in your neighborhood etc.), removal of dead animals and other hazards or debris from the roadway.

Dept. of Traffic & Transportation- 724-7368---To contest parking tickets and obtain residential parking permits and parking variance permits.

Charleston Municipal Court- 724-7460---Questions about court dates, fine amounts and general questions about court.

Remember!! If you need immediate assistance from a police officer, call us via 911 to obtain the fastest response possible. This includes traffic accidents and boating emergencies. For obvious routine matters the Charleston Police Department can be reached via 577-7434. However, the Charleston Police Department will never reject a 911 call.
