Stop in to 85 Calhoun Street to see what’s going on! The Civic Design Center facility was established as a new locus for civic participation in the making of the city. The Charleston Civic Design Center began its operations in the historic Arch Building at 85 Calhoun Street on October 2, 2002. This 200-year-old building has been renovated to support the three-fold mission of the CCDC, with a storefront exhibition gallery dedicated to demonstrations of excellence in urban design and architecture, a public meeting room to facilitate collaborative discourse among the varied constituencies of the city, and an urban design studio for investigations into innovative approaches to contemporary urban challenges.
With these spaces and the events of the CCDC the City of Charleston has a new locus for civic participation in the making of the city. We encourage you to stop in to 85 Calhoun Street to see what’s going on, and to participate in the various activities sponsored by the Charleston Civic Design Center.
