Civic Action Exhibit
Charleston Civic Design Center; 85 Calhoun Street
The Civic Action Exhibition is a showcase of local grassroots organizations and the work they are doing to improve Charleston. For the exhibition the Charleston Civic Design Center gathered a variety of different organizations to demonstrate how the work of each of the organizations ... contributes to a larger action that is changing our city for the better.
The exhibition’s opening will be the evening of June 25th 2009 from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm, with verbal presentations starting at 6:30 pm. Eleven different organizations developed a showcase piece and will present a short five minute presentation around the following question: “What is the most promising opportunity to improve our community, and what action will your organization take to make a difference”
The graphic presentation consists of individual boards designed by each of the eleven different organizations. The boards offer an opportunity for each organization to display who they are, and what work they are doing in Charleston.
Each group will give a brief five minute presentation the night of the opening. It will be a chance for each organization’s members to talk about the work they do and reply to the main question of the exhibit.
The list of participating organizations includes:
Architecture for Humanity | Charleston
Arts Coalition
Charleston Horticultural Society
Charleston Miracle League
Charleston Moves
Fields to Families
Holy City Bike Co-op
Louie’s Kids
Lowcountry Earth Force
Pecha Kucha Charleston
Pour it Now
Following the opening, the exhibition is free and open for viewing weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm from June 26th until August 7th at the Charleston Civic Design Center located at 85 Calhoun Street. Additionally, throughout course of the exhibit each organization will be given an opportunity to host their own event at the Civic Design Center.
