Our People

The Director of the Charleston Civic Design Center is Michael T. Maher an award-winning architect and educator. He has practiced and taught in Chicago, Houston, Tampa, Milwaukee, Paris, Barcelona, and Charleston, and is currently an Adjunct Professor for Clemson University. He provides leadership for the Center in its mission to promote Charleston’s commitment to progress and innovation in the service of the highest civic values.

The CCDC’s support staff includes internship opportunities with local partnering institutions, such as the Clemson Architecture Center in Charleston and the School of the Building Arts. In addition, a 17-member Board of Advisors made up of a diverse group of community leaders and a nationally-prominent Urban Design Advisor provide input and oversight for the Center.
