Pick Up After Your Pet
Not only is pet waste is litter but it is full of bacteria, parasites and other harmful organisms. During rain storms improperly disposed of pet waste washes into local water systems. As if that was not enough leaving your pet's waste on the ground is against the law!

Keep Charleston Beautiful's goal is to bring awareness about dog litter to the public. We provide dog waste removal bags in many of Charleston's City parks. The bag dispensers are available for sponsorship by companies and individuals for a yearly rate of $125. In 2009 over 300,000 dog waste bags were used to help keep the parks waste free.

~~Please remember that while our bags are biodegradable they are not recyclable. Once used please place the bag and its contents in an available trashcan, not the recycling bins found with City parks. ~~

The City of Charleston Environmental Control Ordinance, Article 2, Sec.26-2(f) states:

“It shall be unlawful for any owner, keeper or walker of any dog or cat to permit his or her dog or cat to discharge its excreta upon the property of the owner of the animal or upon the property of one who has assented thereto unless such owner, keeper or walker immediately thereafter removes said animal’s excreta from the public or private property in question.”

Violation of this ordinance could carry a fine of up to $1,092.
