Household Hazardous Wastes
Many products found in homes contain chemical ingredients that are harmful to humans and the environment, and these products are typically labeled toxic, flammable, corrosive, or hazardous. These products should be stored properly in a dry location, should not be exposed to the rain, and should never be poured on the ground or into a storm drain where they can be washed into our waterbodies.
Some common household products that are hazardous include:
Cleaning Products - oven cleaner, floor wax, furniture polish, and drain cleaner.
Car Care Products - motor oil, battery acid, gasoline, antifreeze, degreaser, brake fluid, and car wax.
Home Improvement Products - paints, solvents, paint stripper, wood preservatives, varnish, flourescent light bulbs, mercury thermostats.
