Aviation Unit
The Aviation Unit consists of an experienced team of Pilots and Observers utilizing both a Jet Ranger Helicopter and a Cessna fixed-wing aircraft.The Aviation Unit performs many valuable services and is used in searches for overdue missing persons or boaters (in cooperation with the Harbor Patrol), and in searches for particular vehicles or fleeing suspects in drug intervention cases, robberies and other high risk situations.They also assist in traffic control operations. The fixed wing aircraft is available to outside agencies and was the first plane to land in Homestead, Florida, after Hurricane Andrew.
